Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a primary health care system that blends modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine. Treatments are designed to address the underlying cause of disease by restoring normal function to systems and organs of the body.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapists offer manual therapies, therapeutic exercise prescriptions, and other treatments to prevent injury and disability, and to address acute and chronic injury and pain. The benefits of Physiotherapy also often include improved strength, coordination, flexibility, and heart and lung function.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy can be an effective adjunctive treatment for most health conditions because of its ability to address soft tissue, improve circulation, and restore optimal nervous system balance. It may be beneficial in the treatment of acute and chronic injury or pain, including back pain, whiplash, headaches, sciatica, tendonitis, TMJ, and fibromyalgia. Osteopathy

An Osteopathic approach includes assessing and treating the body as a whole, functional unit, because the cause of pain is often located distant to where the pain is felt. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners (DOMPs) are unique in their application of a very sensitive sense of touch, known as Osteopathic Palpation, to the treatment of soft tissues, joints, the skull, and internal organs. They work to gently ease restricted or constricted areas of the body, optimizing movement of the body’s fluids (such as blood and lymph), so that healing is optimized and normal function restored. Osteopathy can be applied to all health conditions, including chronic pain or inflammation, concussions, injury, neurological conditions, lung and heart conditions, and digestive disorders.

Relative to more Westernized versions of acupuncture, application of the wisdom inherent in Asian acupuncture enables healing of nearly all health conditions by balancing systems in the body such as hormones and immune function. Supporting the body’s capacity to heal includes addressing the root cause of illness, which produces long-term results. Current scientific literature repeatedly demonstrates the efficacy of these treatments, including for relief of pain and addictions, and for treatment of low fertility, hot flashes, and depression.

Counselling

Counselling can be a great option for those feeling overwhelmed with everyday life concerns including relationship problems, breakups, self-esteem issues, grief and loss, life transitions, stress, or symptoms of anxiety and depression. It is generally distinguished from the regulated practice of psychotherapy in Ontario, which is primarily focused on the treatment of more serious mental disorders.

Homeopathic medicine views the symptom expression in the individual as the guide from the inner healing mechanism of the body, and matches a remedy to that unique pattern. Because homeopathic remedies are gentle and non-toxic, they are considered an ideal intervention during pregnancy, for children, and for chemical-sensitive people. In Ontario, Homeopathy is a government-regulated profession and consultations with a registered practitioner are tax-deductible medical expenses.
